Whether you are preparing for college, in the midst of your college years, or nearing graduation, we have books, tips for success, insights for internships, and coaching resources you can learn about here to help you make the most of college and launch your dreams.

Advice from college and career coach Carol Carter:

Think about the classes you take in college as you would the job you most want when you graduate. How should you act? How do you want others to think of you? What kind of a difference would you like to make in class and on the job? How do you want to be rewarded and compensated?

If you show up to each class as you would if you were a committed, focused, and enthusiastic employee, you will get more out of your education and develop important professional skills while you're still in college. So prepare for every class, dress for success, be a strong team member and leader, and treat your professor and class members with the utmost respect. Every move you make today will help you create an important track record for your future.

Did You Know?

In a 2011 study, 71 percent of recent college graduates wish they had done something differently in college to prepare for the job market. (Source: Adecco Staffing USA) In the 25-34 age group, approximately one-third earned a bachelors degree or higher, and less than 10 percent of students earned an associates degree. (Source: Huffington Post) In 2009, the unemployment rates of people 25 years old and over were as follows:

  • 5.2 percent for those with a bachelors degree and higher
  • 6.8 percent for those with an associates degree
  • 8.6 percent for those with some college, no degree
  • 9.7 percent for those with a high school diploma, no college
  • 14.6 percent for those with less than a high school diploma

What they are saying...

The curriculum is engaging and challenges my students to come out of their comfort zones and experience deeper level questioning and thinking. The growth of that I have seen since the beginning of the semester has been phenomenal.

Was it the big fancy presents, the over the top parties, or was it a more simple ritual, time spent together as a family, a moment of calmness, gratitude and connection? A parent I spoke with recently said, “It’s... Read More
