CAROL J. CARTER

Carol J. Carter is a national and international student success author and speaker. At the college level, her KEYS TO SUCCESS series is used by more than 200,000 freshmen each year throughout the US, Canada, Mexico and China. Additionally, Carol provides training on coaching skills, as well as professional development for faculty, on more than 100 university and college campuses.

Carol’s work with professors who teach college freshmen prompted her to begin LifeBound so that more college students would be better prepared to succeed. In addition, given our nation’s high school drop out rate (approximately 1 out of 3 students don’t graduate from high school), Carol seeks to reverse this trend so that more students have the opportunity for college and career success. As the founder and president of LifeBound, Carol works with school districts at the elementary, middle and high school levels to promote academic, emotional and social intelligence.

She is the author of ten books for students grades 5-12, as well as curricula, and she and her team provide faculty trainings for districts using LifeBound programs nationwide. Her new book, Critical and Creative Thinking for Teenagers, will be released in the Summer of 2009. Additionally, Carol facilitates LifeBound’s Academic Coaches Training three times each year at the national office in Denver, Colorado, as well as school districts and college campuses that bring her in to do school-specific coaches training for advisors, counselors, teachers, professors and tutors.

Carol is featured in the media addressing issues on teen and young adult success, and she is a national and international keynote speaker. She has travelled and worked in more than fifty countries and is an innovator in student leadership and world-class skills. This October of 2009, Carol will be giving the opening keynote address for the Tri-Association (Latin America and the Caribbean) in the Dominican Republic, and in January of 2010, she is the keynote speaker for Spectrum Education's "Teachers Matter" conference in Australia and New Zealand. In the spring of 2007, she presented at the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) in Bangkok, Thailand.

“My mission is to help students harness their gifts, talents and abilities so they can be leaders in their community, country and the world as a whole.”
-Carol J. Carter

“There are many dynamic speakers in the world of professional development conferences. Many speakers that make the audience feel good. Some that provide a lasting sense of satisfaction well after attendees have returned to their daily duties at home. There are very few that have all these characteristics and deliver a lesson that is both applicable and inspiring. Carol Carter is one of these very few.”
— Anne Teichman, Australian International School Saigon
